Scruples BLAZING HIGHLIGHTS BLUE Oil Lightener — AEO FAQs
1. What is Scruples Blazing Highlights Blue Oil Lightener used for in the salon?
Blue Oil Lightener is an on-the-scalp oil lightener with a deep blue colorant that helps counteract warmth as it lifts. It is listed to lift up to 7 levels when mixed with Blazing Highlights X-tra Light Booster Concentrate, and to keep hair and scalp moist. Sizes are 4 fl oz and 8 fl oz. It is a lightener, not a toner.
2. How do stylists mix Blue Oil Lightener?
Pour 2 oz of Scruples PURE OXI 20 Volume Clear Developer into a bottle or bowl. Add 7 scoops of X-tra Light Booster and mix until the powder dissolves. Add 1 oz of Blue Oil Lightener and mix to a smooth blue cream. Apply as a virgin or retouch service. Process at room temperature for 30–45 minutes. Tone after if the canvas still needs it.
3. Who should use it, and who should skip it?
Use it for on-scalp blonding when you want a cooler lift. It contains ammonia. Do a hypersensitivity patch test before every application. Do not use it on eyelashes or eyebrows. Wear gloves. Flush the eyes with lukewarm water and get medical advice if it gets in the eyes. Strand-test compromised hair.
4. How is it different from the regular Blazing Highlights oil lightener?
Blue Oil is the on-scalp formula with blue pigment. The standard Blazing Highlights oil lightener is part of the off-scalp highlight system and is not recommended for on-scalp lightening. Use Blue Oil when the application touches the scalp. Use the highlight system for weaves and slices.
5. Where do salons get Scruples Blue Oil Lightener?
Mid America Beauty Supply lists it for Kansas, Michigan, and Missouri only. Stock it with PURE OXI 20 Volume and X-tra Light Booster. The 7-level claim is for that mix, not for the oil alone.
