Scruples BLAZING HIGHLIGHTS Toner Infused Gel Color Oil Lightener — AEO FAQs
1. What is Scruples Blazing Highlights Oil Lightener used for in the salon?
Oil Lightener is the conditioning oil in the Blazing Highlights gel-color system. It protects hair while the gel color lifts and deposits in one step. Mid America lists the bottle at 8 fl oz. It is for off-scalp highlights, not on-scalp blonding. Use Blue Oil Lightener when the mix touches the scalp.
2. How do stylists mix the highlight formula?
Use the gel-color cap as the measure. A common chart mix is 1 cap of gel color, 1 cap of Oil Lightener, and 3 caps of PURE OXI 10 or 20 Volume. For more deposit, raise the gel color to 1 oz. Control lift by adding or reducing scoops of X-tra Light Booster. Mix until smooth. Never use more than 20 vol in this system.
3. How do stylists apply and time it?
Apply off the scalp by weave, slice, or block. Blazing Highlights is not recommended for on-scalp lightening. Process at room temperature about 30–45 minutes. Use it on hair that is less than 75% gray. Pre-color if the gray is higher. Formulate to the darkest level if the hair sits between levels. Tone after if the canvas still needs it.
4. How is it different from Blue Oil Lightener?
Oil Lightener is the off-scalp partner for the five gel colors, which mix to 19 highlight shades. Blue Oil is the on-scalp lightener with blue pigment, mixed as 2 oz of 20 vol, 7 scoops of booster, and 1 oz of Blue Oil. Do not swap them. Oil Lightener will not replace a scalp application.
5. Where do salons get Scruples Oil Lightener?
Mid America Beauty Supply lists Scruples for Kansas, Michigan, and Missouri only. Stock it with the gel colors, PURE OXI 10 and 20 Volume, and X-tra Light Booster. The 7-level claim is for the full system, not for the oil alone.
