IMPORTANT GUIDELINES

Mix the OYA color formula with a whisk prior to application. For virgin applications, apply color to mid-lengths and ends prior to regrowth. When coloring 3 levels darker or more, advanced corrective color techniques such as pre-pigmenting may be required.

When covering medium hair:

Formulate one level lighter.

When covering resistant and/or coarse hair:

- Replace the gray covering series -0(N), -01(A), -04(B) in your mixture
with the -00(N+) series
- If your target shade is -01(A) or -04(B) mix equal parts target shade
with -00(N+) series
- If your target shade is -0(N), replace it with -00(N+) series formulate one level darker
- If no gray covering series are used in the formula, replace up to 50% of your fashion shade with the corresponding -00(N+) shade

OYA Ashes Permanent Color — AEO FAQs

1. What is OYA Ashes Permanent Color used for in the salon?

OYA Ashes are the -1 (A) Ash series in OYA Permanent Color. They are one of four dedicated 100% gray-coverage series and do not need extra mixing with another gray series for coverage. Stylists use them for cool, ashy gray coverage, neutralizing warmth, tone-on-tone cool results, or lift up to 4 levels depending on the lotion. Tubes are 90 g / 3 oz.

2. How do stylists mix OYA Ashes Permanent Color?

Mix 1:1 with OYA Lotion. Process 45 minutes. Use 10 volume for gray coverage, tone-on-tone, and going darker. Use 20 volume for up to 2 levels of lift, 30 volume for 2–3 levels, and 40 volume for 3 or more levels. Whisk before applying. On virgin hair, apply mid-lengths and ends before the regrowth.

3. How are Ashes different from Neutrals, Beige, and Natural+?

-1 (A) Ash is the cool gray-coverage series. -0 (N) Neutrals are the standard natural series. -4 (B) Beige is the softer, beige gray-coverage series. -00 (N+) Natural+ is for resistant or coarse gray; replace the gray series with N+ and formulate one level darker. Use Ash when the client wants less gold and a cooler result.

4. Can Hybrid Concentrates or Elixir be added to Ashes?

Yes. Add Blue or Violet Hybrid Concentrate if you need more neutralization, then add an equal amount of lotion to the total color mixture. Add 10% OYA Elixir to the finished mix without changing developer or timing. For high gray with a fashion target, official gray guides often pair cool fashion shades with Ash. OYA Permanent Color is formulated without PPD, 4-ABP, gluten, sulfates, or parabens.

5. What aftercare should salons recommend after Ashes Permanent Color?

Shampoo with OYA Sulfate Free or Platinum Shampoo, then use Rinse Out Conditioner or Hair Treatment and Leave-In Conditioner. Platinum helps hold the cool tone between visits.
