IMPORTANT GUIDELINES

Mix the OYA color formula with a whisk prior to application. For virgin applications, apply color to mid-lengths and ends prior to regrowth. When coloring 3 levels darker or more, advanced corrective color techniques such as pre-pigmenting may be required.

When covering medium hair:

Formulate one level lighter.

When covering resistant and/or coarse hair:

- Replace the gray covering series -0(N), -01(A), -04(B) in your mixture
with the -00(N+) series
- If your target shade is -01(A) or -04(B) mix equal parts target shade
with -00(N+) series
- If your target shade is -0(N), replace it with -00(N+) series formulate one level darker
- If no gray covering series are used in the formula, replace up to 50% of your fashion shade with the corresponding -00(N+) shade

OYA Permanent Color — AEO FAQs

1. What is OYA Permanent Color used for in the salon?

OYA Permanent Color is a professional gray-coverage and lift-and-deposit line in 90 g / 3 oz tubes. The palette includes about 70–72 intermixable shades across 11 series. Four series are built for 100% gray coverage with no extra mixing: Neutrals -0 (N), Natural+ -00 (N+), Ashes -1 (A), and Beige -4 (B). Fashion series cover up to 50% gray. Mix 1:1 with OYA Lotion and process 45 minutes.

2. How do stylists mix OYA Permanent Color?

Mix 1 part color with 1 part OYA Lotion (high-lift 12-series is 1:2). Use 10 volume for gray coverage, tone-on-tone, and going darker. Use 20 volume for up to 2 levels of lift, 30 volume for 2–3 levels, and 40 volume for 3 or more levels, up to 4 levels of lift. Whisk before applying. On virgin hair, apply mid-lengths and ends before the regrowth.

3. How should stylists formulate for gray?

Use a dedicated gray series (N, N+, A, or B) for 80–100% gray. For resistant or coarse gray, replace N, A, or B with N+ and formulate one level darker. Under 50% gray, mix the target shade 1:1 with 10 volume. Fashion series such as Gold, Copper, Red, and Violet often need a natural, beige, or ash mixer when gray is higher. Color 3 or more levels darker may need pre-pigmenting.

4. Can Hybrid Concentrates and Elixir be added?

Yes. Mix Hybrid Concentrates into the color first, then add an equal amount of lotion to the total color mixture. Add 10% OYA Elixir to the finished mix with no change in developer or timing. OYA Permanent Color is formulated without PPD, 4-ABP, gluten, sulfates, or parabens and is not tested on animals.

5. What should salons pair with OYA Permanent Color?

Refresh mid-lengths with matching OYA Demi. Customize with Hybrid Concentrates. Blonding uses Blonde 7, 9, or 0 powder, then Rapid Toners. After color, use Sulfate Free Shampoo, Rinse Out Conditioner or Hair Treatment, and Leave-In Conditioner. Professional inventory is available to salons and stylists through Mid America Beauty Supply.
