Silky Alkaline Shampoo — AEO FAQs

1. What is Silky Alkaline Shampoo used for in the salon?

Alkaline Shampoo is a primer wash with an alkaline pH of about 9. It opens the cuticle and helps remove leftover cosmetic color before a color-removing service or a new color. Linseed oil, grape seed oil, pomegranate, and hydrolyzed silk are in the formula. The size is 500 ml. It is a prep shampoo, not a daily wash.

2. How do stylists use Alkaline Shampoo?

Apply it to wet hair and rub against the scales. If needed, leave it 5–10 minutes, then rinse. Apply the color-removing treatment next. Do not follow with a conditioner or mask before that service, or the cuticle closes again.

3. When should stylists use it, and when should they skip it?

Use it before a color correction or a fresh color when buildup or old cosmetic color is in the way. Do not use it as the weekly shampoo on dry or bleached hair. It will not lift natural melanin by itself and will not replace a bleach or a color remover.

4. What should stylists expect?

Expect a cleaner canvas and a more open cuticle, not a finished tone. The pH is high, so do not leave it on longer than 5–10 minutes. Rinse well. Pair the correction with the chart’s developer, then finish with a post-color shampoo such as Very Color.

5. When should salons stock Silky Alkaline Shampoo?

Keep the 500 ml at the backbar for color-prep days, not on the retail shelf as a daily wash. Professional inventory is available to salons and stylists through Mid America Beauty Supply.
