The ONE Solution for Gentle Hair Color Removal

• Using gloves, apply OYA Remove evenly to clean, towel dried hair using a brush or directly from the bottle, until hair is thoroughly saturated.
  
• Place hair in plastic cap and process with heat for up to 20 minutes, checking periodically.
  
• After processing, rinse thoroughly then shampoo hair vigorously 2-3 times to force the artificial color out of the hair shaft, then rinse.
• IMPORTANT STEP: TO DETERMINE IF ANY OXIDATIVE OYES REMAIN IN THE HAIR, APPLY 10 VOLUME DEVELOPER FOR 10 MINUTES.
• Rinse thoroughly for 5 minutes. Repeat all steps up to 3 times if oxidative dyes have not been removed.
• Once desired removal is achieved, you may proceed with color service. For best results formulate 1-2 levels lighter than target level as results can be darker than expected after removal service.

1. What is OYA Remove used for in the salon?

OYA Remove is a single-use, one-step color remover. It reverses the oxidation of permanent and demi-permanent oxidative dyes so artificial color can be taken out without bleach or ammonia and with no mixing. It does not remove natural pigment, henna, or metallic dyes. The professional size is 118 ml / 4 fl oz.

2. How do stylists apply OYA Remove?

Using gloves, apply to clean, towel-dried hair with a brush or straight from the bottle until the hair is fully saturated. Cap and process with heat up to 20 minutes, checking periodically. Rinse, then shampoo vigorously 2–3 times to pull the artificial color out. Then do the required 10-volume test.

3. Why is the 10-volume developer test required?

After shampooing, apply 10 volume developer for 10 minutes to see if oxidative dye is still in the hair. Rinse for 5 minutes. If color returns, leftover dye is still present. Repeat the full Remove process up to three times in one day. Skipping this step can let leftover dye re-oxidize at home and look splotchy.

4. When does OYA Remove work best, and when will it fail?

It works best on freshly colored oxidative dye. It may not easily remove darker colors or color that has been in the hair longer than 8 weeks. It will not remove henna or metallic dyes. Leftover product in an opened bottle becomes less effective, so it is designed as single use.

5. What should stylists do after a successful removal?

Proceed with the new color service. Formulate 1–2 levels lighter than the target because results can read darker than expected after removal.
