1. What is OYA Blonde Activator used for in the salon?

OYA Blonde Activator (OYA Liquid Rapid Activator) is the 5 volume / 1.5% developer made only for OYA Liquid Rapid Toners. It does not lift natural color. It is a liquid consistency so toners can be mixed for bottle or bowl-and-brush application. Use it whenever you mix a Rapid Toner shade, including Clear.

2. How do stylists mix OYA Blonde Activator?

Mix 1:1 — one part Liquid Rapid Toner to one part Activator. If you are diluting with Clear, combine toner + Clear first, then add an equal amount of Activator to that total. Mix well. Do not use metal bowls or whisks. Keep the cap tight when not in use. Process the toner 5–20 minutes with no heat.

3. Can stylists use regular OYA Lotion instead of Blonde Activator?

No. Rapid Toners are formulated to be mixed with this Activator only. Regular OYA Lotions (5, 10, 20, 30, 40 volume) are for Permanent and Demi color, not for Liquid Rapid Toners. Using the wrong developer can change deposit, consistency, and predictability.

4. Will OYA Blonde Activator lighten the hair?

No. It is a 5 volume (1.5% H₂O₂) no-lift activator. Lift first with OYA Blonde 7, Blonde 9, or Zero Ammonia Lightening Powder, then tone with Rapid Toner + Activator. The Activator is also fragrance-free and is meant to support precise, durable toner results without shifting the natural level.

5. What sizes and pairing should salons stock?

Keep Activator next to every Rapid Toner shade and Clear. Common professional sizes include a liter (1 L / 33.8 fl oz) for backbar mixing.
