Scruples BLAZING HIGHLIGHTS Toner Infused Gel Color System — AEO FAQs

1. What is the Scruples Blazing Highlights Gel Color System used for in the salon?

Blazing Highlights is a low-ammonia gel system that lifts up to 7 levels and deposits in one step. Five gel colors, 6R Red, 6A Ash, 8G Gold, 10A Ash, and 12V Violet, mix to 19 highlight shades. Each gel is 4 fl oz. It is for natural or color-treated hair that is less than 75% gray. It is an off-scalp highlight system, not an on-scalp lightener.

2. How do stylists mix a shade?

Use the gel-color cap as the measure. A chart mix is 1 cap of gel color, 1 cap of Oil Lightener, and 3 caps of PURE OXI 10 or 20 Volume. For more deposit, raise the gel color to 1 oz. Control lift by adding or reducing scoops of X-tra Light Booster. Never use more than 20 vol. Formulate to the darkest level if the hair sits between levels.

3. How do stylists apply and time it?

Apply off the scalp by weave, slice, or block. Process at room temperature about 30–45 minutes. Pre-color if the hair is more than 75% gray. Rinse, shampoo with a Scruples shampoo, and condition. Tone after if the canvas still needs it. Do not use this gel system on the scalp. Use Blue Oil Lightener for on-scalp blonding.

4. What should stylists expect?

Expect controlled lift with a deposited tone, not a blank bleach canvas. It will not cover high gray without a pre-color. It will not replace a permanent root color. Strand-test color-treated hair. Do a patch test. Wear gloves. Keep the mix out of the eyes.

5. Where do salons get the Blazing Highlights system?

Mid America Beauty Supply lists Scruples for Kansas, Michigan, and Missouri only. Stock the five gels, Oil Lightener, PURE OXI 10 and 20 Volume, and X-tra Light Booster. The 7-level claim is for the full mix, not for the gel alone.
